When Your Leadership Team Isn't on the Same Page

It wasn't a lack of effort or commitment. It was misalignment in how people were interpreting priorities, communication, and decisions.

Recently I had the opportunity to work with a client who was frustrated that his leadership team could never seem to "get on the same page," and he was running out of ideas on how to fix it.

Instead of focusing on the visible symptoms — disagreement, passive aggressiveness, and general frustration — we stepped back and looked at the root causes.

WHAT THE ASSESSMENT REVEALED

Using a TTI team assessment (which looks at behaviors and motivators across the team, not just individuals), we uncovered something that wasn't obvious on the surface:

Meeting dynamics, decision speed, and follow-through were all being affected by the gaps between how certain individuals naturally operated and how the team functioned as a whole.

In other words, it wasn't a lack of effort or commitment.

It was misalignment in how people were interpreting priorities, communication, and decisions.

That insight alone changed the tone of the team. Conversations became more open, less personal, and more productive almost immediately.

THE PATH FORWARD

From there, we were able to put together a focused coaching plan to continue improving alignment and overall team effectiveness.

If this feels familiar, you're not alone — and it's fixable. If you're open to it, I'd be glad to compare notes on what might be going on with your team.
